SAPTDHARA Activities at G.E.C.,Valsad
Independence day celebration
As a part of SAPTA DHARA activities, various events were organized under Seven Bands of SAPTA DHARA during current year’s Independence Day celebration.
In the month of August, the program of SAPTDHARA envisioned by GTU swept the students’ creativity off to a different level. Under the guidance of our Principal and Chairperson, Prof. Usha Neelakanthan and the managers, Prof. G.A Rathva and Prof. K.D Tandel, the SAPTDHARA activities were divided into 8 bands, namely the Knowledge Band, Creative Band, Fine Arts Band, Theatre Band, Dance and Music Band, Sports and Yoga Band, Community Band and Videography and Reporting Band. The program was extended for three days from 14th to 16th August. On first day (14th August), Rangoli Competition under Fine Arts Band, Quiz Competition & Elocution Competition under Knowledge Band and Essay Writing Competition under Creative Expression Band were played. Also College Campus Cleaning was carried out under Community/Social Band on that day.
On 15th Aug, Independence Day, After Flag Hoisting, Students had done a ‘Parade’ in the college campus under Sports Band at the college road under Community/Social Band. A cultural program was organized on that day to celebrate Independence Day at the college campus.

Apart from the above mentioned activities, the students performed group dance, solo classical dance and also solo songs.
The highlight however was a skit performed by students who were selected and sent to Ahmadabad for special training in enacting the skit on ‘The Life of Swami Vivekananda’. This skit was performed by students excellently and the message of the great man was passed on to the youth effectively.
On 16th Aug, Tree plantation was planned at college campus. Total 50 plants of various tree/plant like Gulmohor, Pento, Champa, Saag, Karan & Nilgiri were planted in college campus by all staff members under Community/Social Band.
